About the program

Alison will thoroughly discuss the business aspects of family portraiture, covering key topics such as effective marketing strategies, making a strong first contact with clients, detailed planning and communication with families, the actual photography session, techniques for posing and lighting, conducting the presentation appointment, retouching images, delivering the final product, and maintaining follow-up with clients—all presented through an engaging slide show.

Following the presentation, attendees will enjoy a hands-on, fun posing and lighting demonstration conducted in her welcoming home studio.

About the presenter

Alison Wachstein, CPP, M. Photog., Cr.

Alison has been creating a collection of memories for generations to cherish; capturing favorite expressions and relationships in exquisitely crafted portraits. She is well known for her sensitive portrayal of her subjects and her ability to catch their fleeting, special moments for families to treasure. She was an honored photojournalist and lifestyle photographer in both Aspen, Colorado and New Jersey. She has taught at Seton Hall, Fairleigh Dickinson and Fairfield Universities and at the New York School of Interior Design.

Her photographs are in many private collections as well as the permanent collection at the International Center of Photography in NYC. Her book, Pregnant Moments, published by Morgan & Morgan was highly regarded in both the childbirth and photography communities. She has been the recipient of many state, regional and national awards for her photographs, including the Kodak Gallery and EPCOT awards.

She is a life member of both the PPA and CTPPA and was Master Photographer of the Year for CTPPA.
