April Quarterly Meeting featuring Blair Phillips and “The Coolest Kid in School”

Blair Phillips

Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cromwell, CT beginning at 5:30 pm

The CTPPA will kick off it’s new season of speakers and education with one of the “coolest” speakers, Blair Phillips.  Blair comes to CTPPA from Landis, North Carolina and in a short period of time has taken an economically depressed town and created a “killer” high school senior market.  In three short years, Blair and his team have gone from the back row of the classroom to “The Coolest Kid in School”.  Through innovative senior rep programs, bulletproof lighting and posing, Blair will show you how to evolve not only your senior marketing programs, but provide you with techniques that will boost your entire book of business.  The key to Blair’s success is his eccentric lighting and posing, which distinguishes his senior portraits from others.  Blair’s unique use of eclectic locations and fashion forward posing breaks the mold of the traditional portraits, creating a fresh and different looks for each client.

Blair is a working photographer with a brand new 4000 square foot facility.  Blair and his wife Suzanne, don’t just focus in on one type of photography, but photograph a “little bit of everything”.  In seven short years they have built a very successful business and strive to share their success as national speakers.

Join us at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cromwell, CT on April 25, 2012 with networking beginning at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:00pm and lecture at 7:00pm.

CTPPA January Quarterly Meeting~Lightroom Explained

Is Lightroom a mystery to you?  Have you loaded the program in your computer and done nothing with it?  Maybe you mastered the basics and now want to learn how Lightroom can help you refine your workflow.  Don’t miss the 1st CTPPA Quarterly meeting of 2012 as CTPPA brings you TWO Complete course on Lightroom workflow.  Meet up with your fellow CTPPA members on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, CT beginning with registration at 5:30 and dinner at 6:00pm and both seminars start at 7:00pm.

Both these programs will concentrate on the program Lightroom 3.  Feel free to bring your laptop to work along with the instructors, however know that electricity is limited.  Make sure that your batteries are charged!

Mark Brendel presents “Lightroom: A Beginner’s Course

Join Mark as he helps you demystify the mystery surrounding Lightroom, right out of the box.  He will help you with all the lightroom library basic set-ups and development settings.  Mark will assist you with any information that you need to start using Lighroom to help you edit more efficiently.  Mark has been teaching classes in Photoshop, Lightroom and basic computer courses to many photographers and non-photographers for years.  He has been hired by photographers to help streamline their computer workflow and networks.  We are excited that Mark will be sharing his expertise with his fellow CTPPA members.  Mark invites the attendees of his seminar to ask specific Lightroom questions before the seminar by e-mailing him at m.w.brendel@comcast.net.

Richard Esposito presents “Lightroom: Advanced”

Lightroom’s capabilities surpass what most photographers use it for. Richard Esposito will show features that are mostly unknown, unused, or too advance for the beginning photographer. He’ll explore in Lightroom how to arrange your files, faster culling techniques, import and export presets, using Photoshop Droplets for Lightroom, the capabilities of the print module, as well as settings throughout the program.

These techniques will help maximizing workflow efficiency and improve quality and consistency. Two things that don’t normally go together.

Join us immediately after the programs for our third PRINT COMPETITION of the year.  This print competition will be actual prints to help get ready for the Annual Competition coming up in March.  So choose your images, register online for print competition and send those images to the lab.  WE WANT YOUR PRINTS! Any question for print competition please contact print chair Mark Brendel (yes he’s our speaker too!) at m.w.brendel@comcast.net.

When Registering please indicate which class you will take in the comments section.  Thank You!

Chris Beltrami, (M.Photog, Cr., ASP-Fellow) and Pat Beltrami, (M.Photog, Cr., ASP-Fellow) present “A Passion for Photographic Art”

Not doing anything Wednesday September 21, 2011?  Well now you are!  If you haven’t ever seen Pat and Chris Beltrami present a program, then you are missing out.   This power couple from Vermont have been speaking all over the country and internationally for years.  They are passionate about everything…each other, their family and especially photography.

Although Chris says that the Beltrami style is “absence of”, it may be more accurate to say “always changing”.

From portraiture to impressionistic art to environmental studies to b&w street shots, the Beltramis will share their seasons of photographic style.

Experience their evolution and then feel the wonder and the magic of – Al’ Istante…the snapshot … the unplanned … the decisive moment.

This will be an emotionally charged program that is designed to renew your passion for creative photography … and for life itself .

“In the midst of enjoying each season of photographic style, I have always been aware of an inevitable revelation for more.    God’s surprise packages come so quickly.”    —-Chris Beltrami

The Beltramis will also share:

High School Senior Art Book —How to add $200 to most of your Senior sales.

Great Sales – Overlooking the Obvious

Pat will share one great sales suggestion that will increase your average sale by 25 to 100%.

It is the most important thing that we have done for our studio in the past 4 years.

10 Photoshop Tips—some really great tips – you won’t want to leave home without them.

In 1974,  Chris left a Cost Accounting position with IBM, Kingston, NY in order to begin the studio photography business.    With vision and hard work, Chris and Pat were able to open 5 successful studio locations.   They still operate 2 of the locations and have released the other 3 to new award winning ownership.

Beltrami Studios generates over 1 million dollars in annual sales so, in addition to artistic instruction and motivation, Beltrami lectures provide creative and engaging ideas for marketing and selling.
